Cyclocross is the mountain bike equivalent to a beginner skills loop. However, racing for an hour on the same circuit on a roadbike against national-caliber legs can put the excitement meter at ten. SRAM, the original component manufacturer that established dirt dominance in mountain biking competition, has announced that its Force road components have won significant victories at this year’s U.S. Nationals and Canadian Nationals. The good news is that the Chicago-based component manufacturer is now two steps closer to the Tour de France.
Here’s the official release

This weekend saw the naming of two SRAM-equipped Cyclocross Champions.
The other was in Colorado (USA) and Canada. Lyne Bessette (cyclocrossworld.com) earned her second Canadian National Cyclocross Championship in the mucky and technical course conditions in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Nov. 11. This title has strong implications for Worlds selection. Bessettes season goal was to win every race. However, she had her form in mind for the National Championship event. Bessette answered a question about her SRAM Force componentry’s performance. She said that although her bike was filthy, she didn’t change because there weren’t shifting issues even in terrible conditions. I can show you that the SRAM Force performed flawlessly and have a national championship shirt to prove it. ?
Matt Shriver (Sonic/Kona), was proud to have won the Colorado State Cross title, just ahead of Todd Wells (GT), a current US National Champ. Shriver won the title at Fort Lewis College’s Squawker Cross Championship in Durango, CO on Nov. 12. Although some might have been surprised by Shriver’s win, he has continued to improve and is now in the top ten at national events for the entire Cross season. Both Shriver, and Bessette, will now travel to the last weekend of the USGP Race Series, Nov. 18-19 in Washington and Oregon (USA).
